CG Group Alleges Propaganda Against Wai Wai Amid Kathmandu Metropolis Fine for Quality Issues

Chaudhary Group’s Managing Director, Nirvana Chaudhary, has expressed concerns about the proliferation of propaganda targeting Wai Wai noodles within Nepal, despite its global popularity.

In a recent Facebook post, Chaudhary emphasized the firm’s unwavering commitment to maintaining robust standards and certifications, which have positioned Wai Wai as a prominent ambassador of Nepali flavors worldwide. Refuting allegations aimed at tarnishing Wai Wai’s reputation, he urged consumers not to be swayed by false advertising, asserting, “There are tendencies to spread false propaganda against Chaudhary Group. Wai Wai has been established as a globally popular Nepali flavor. It is surprising that such propaganda exists in our own country. Why does such propaganda exist in our own country when we have strong standards and certifications that too when we announced bringing IPO?”

नेपाली पहिचानकै रुपमा विश्वव्यापी ब्राण्डलाई बदनाम गर्ने प्रवृत्तिबाट कसले के प्राप्त गर्छ, त्यो उनैले जानून । त्यसैले आम उपभोक्तालाई भ्रममा नपर्न आग्रह गर्दछौं र यदि कसैलाई हाम्रा कारखानामा भ्रमण गर्न मन भए स्वागत गर्दछौं ।

Recently, Chaudhary Group’s Wai Wai noodles was found to have substandard quality, according to the inspection conducted by the Market Monitoring Committee of Kathmandu Metropolitan City. Dr. Avadhesh Jha, the city’s inspection officer, confirmed the lack of quality in Wai Wai noodles following subsequent testing. According to Dr. Jha, Chaudhary Group has been fined NPR 200,000 and instructed to recall all substandard noodles from the market. He stated, “We have also given instructions to recall all noodles stocked in the market. The presence of acid in these noodles, detected through repeated testing, prompted such directives.” Dr. Jha also highlighted the repeated use of oil in noodle preparation, which contributed to the substandard quality. After the revelation, Wai Wai faced huge criticisms from the consumer.
