A class 12 student was found to hack the website of Tribhuvan University’s exam control office in Balkhu.
On Tuesday night, after the hack, he made the website redirect to his personal Facebook account. Initially, there were concerns that someone had redirected the site to Rohit’s account without his knowledge. However, a post from that account later confirmed the hack was done by him and stated that since the TU started online services, it has increased the surface area for potential attacks, posing a security challenge.
The post also emphasized the need for robust security measures, especially when developing software. It mentioned that the university must ensure the security of the millions of online documents. Additionally, the post flagged the unauthorized and unethical nature of the hack, explicitly stating no support for such actions.
After this revelation, many speculated that his account might have been hacked. However, according to reports his father also confirmed that the website was hacked by his son.
His father shared, “My son studies in Lalitpur’s CCRC College in Class 12. He tried to check the website’s cybersecurity by attempting the hack. All data is secure.”
The issue gained attention as it involved the future of numerous students. His father assured that his son’s actions aimed at testing cybersecurity, ensuring the safety of all data. Even now, the TU website is currently redirected to his own facebook account.
