Nepali politicians are always in the news of things they do or things they shouldn’t do. Meanwhile, we all wait for our appraisals (including me), let’s dig in to know how much our politicians get paid.
The Government of Nepal allots the salary of our government officials. Just like any other job our Prime Minister, President, Vice-President, and others get paid for their responsible roles.
1. President
The President, holding the highest office in the country, receives a salary of NPR 1,77,500.
2. Vice President
The Vice President, a position of considerable importance, is compensated with a salary of NPR 1,27,500.
3. Prime Minister
As the most powerful figure in the government, the Prime Minister earns a salary of NPR 91,190.
4. Deputy Prime Minister
Deputy Prime Ministers, holding respected roles, are entitled to a salary of NPR 77,000.
5. Ministers
Ministers, key figures in the government, receive a salary of NPR 72,000.
6. Member of Parliaments
Members of Parliament, playing a crucial role in legislative processes, earn a salary of NPR 66,000.
7. HOR Speaker
The Speaker of the House of Representatives, a position commanding great respect, is compensated with a salary of NPR 79,400.
8. Speaker NA
The Speaker of the National Assembly, a highly esteemed role, receives a salary of NPR 79,400.
9. Mayor
The mayor of Metropolis, Sub-metropolis, Municipality and Rural Municipality are Rs 60000, Rs 50000, Rs 40000 and Rs 35000 respectively.
Besides salary, Nepali politicians gets other benefits like transport and allowance contributing to their income. Moreover, they also have other source of income such as their personal business, brand value, commission and corruption.
