Nepalis Outraged as Virat Kohli Posts Video Including Khumbu Region Misrepresenting Them as India

Virat Kohli posted a video on Monday, in which he wished all the luck to India’s athletes, who are set to take part in the Olympic Games Paris 2024, scheduled to begin on July 26. However, the video sparked controversy when Kohli included images of Nepal’s Khumbu region and the Chure region while referring to ‘India,’ ‘Bharat,’ and ‘Hindustan.’

Nepali fans, who have long admired Kohli as one of the greatest cricket players, were quick to express their outrage. Many took to social media, requesting Kohli to ask his editor to correct the video and re-upload it. Some even criticized Kohli, suggesting that he should work on his intelligence along with his batting prowess.

The backlash highlights the sensitivity surrounding cultural and national identity in the region. It remains to be seen whether Kohli will address this issue and respond to the concerns raised by his Nepali fans.
