Jhapa to Host First-Ever International PUBG Hackathon on August 14–16

Jhapa is stepping onto the global tech stage this August with the first-ever Programmers Unknown Battleground (PUBG) Hackathon, a three-day international coding competition organized by the Developers Association Jhapa (DAJ). The event will take place from August 14 to 16, 2025 (29–31 Shrawan 2082) at Gomendra Multiple Campus, Birtamod.

For the first time, Jhapa will welcome not just Nepali participants but also teams from India, making this a cross-border platform for innovation, collaboration, and cultural exchange. “This is more than just a coding competition—it’s Jhapa’s debut on the international tech stage,” said organizer Abiral Acharya, adding that such events have long been limited to Kathmandu.

More than 40 teams have registered for the hackathon, but only 15 will be selected through a pre-event interview process. Each team will have 3–4 members and compete in one of four surprise tracks revealed at the event: AI/ML, Blockchain, IoT, and Open Innovation.

The event will also feature workshops for +2 students on topics like financial literacy, the share market, artificial intelligence, and robotics.

Following a PUBG-inspired format, the hackathon will include themed sessions such as “Drop Zone Opens,” “Rozhok Fight,” and “Erangel Escape Development Sprint.” The final day will feature mentor reviews, top 15 team announcements, and final pitching before judges, who will evaluate projects based on creativity, technical execution, real-world impact, teamwork, and presentation.

Winners will receive exciting prizes, swags, certificates, and opportunities for post-event mentorship and startup incubation.

The event is supported by multiple sponsors, including Gomendra Multiple Campus (Title Sponsor), RD Mobile Accessories and Audio Devices (Associate Sponsor), Pratham IT System (Silver Sponsor), and others. Partners like Pathao Nepal, Ganapati Bakers, Nirvix Technology, and Kailash Cloud are also contributing.

DAJ, a youth-led nonprofit tech community, hopes the PUBG Hackathon will help establish Jhapa as a growing hub for technical innovation.

With its gamified coding battles and global participation, this hackathon promises to be a turning point for Jhapa’s tech scene.
