Why Does Nepal Oil Corporation Always Announce Price Changes At Night Time?

Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has increased the price of petroleum products. The NOC has hiked the price of petrol, diesel and kerosene by Rs 3 per liter with effect from Tuesday morning.

According to the press release issued by Nepal Oil Corporation Limited on Monday, the price of petroleum products has been adjusted according to the new purchase price received from Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).

Why do NOC only announces price changes when its already night?

Have you ever wondered why NOC announces price changes only when it’s night? We reached out to our followers for their theories, and some offered amusing suggestions like NOC standing for Night Oil Corporation or intending to surprise people the next morning. However, the actual reason is much more straightforward. After around 8 pm, most petrol pumps are already closed. Announcing price changes during working hours could lead to billing problems and potential chaos in price verification. Some pumps might even delay selling petrol until the next day to take advantage of increased prices. By announcing changes at night, NOC minimizes disruptions and ensures a smoother transition in price adjustments.

So, while the idea of a Night Oil Corporation may sound intriguing, the reality is that timing plays a crucial role in maintaining stability in the petrol market.
