Balen Shah Takes Dig at Government For Inagurating Melamchi Project Again!

Balen Shah, the Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolis, has criticized the government, stating that the recent inauguration of the Melamchi Water Supply Project, which was carried out without proper technical assessments and solutions to potential risks, reflects a political stunt.

Taking to social media he satirically wrote, “How many times you will win this heart Prachanda government by inaugurating the same project again and again?”

He also went on to share that the Melamchi Project has been inaugurated five times by different leaders.

He emphasized the need for thorough technical studies and constructive structures to avoid the misuse of administrative mechanisms and political leadership for short-term gains. Shah expressed concern about the lack of attention to addressing risks and urged collaboration with the central government to ensure a steady and reliable water supply for Kathmandu, rather than focusing on temporary political advantages.
