Harka Sampang Removes President and PM’s Photos From Office, Threatens to Make Dharan Separate Nation

Dharan’s Mayor Harka Sampang has escalated tensions by crossing boundaries. He removed pictures of the President and Prime Minister from his office today, threatening to make Dharan an independent state. Yesterday, he announced this on social media.

Mayor Sampang wrote, “Today, I am replacing the photos of the President and Prime Minister with King Yalamber’s photo! On the day the center gives importance to Dharan again, I will put back their photos! Jai Desh!”

A few days ago, Sampang had issued a controversial statement on social media, threatening to make Dharan an independent state. He wrote, “Whether you give us development or not, give us autonomy! We don’t need you if you don’t give us autonomy! Don’t force us to make Dharan an independent state! Think about it!”

Mayor Sampang not only challenges state authorities but also intimidates those who question him. So far, no government agency has sought clarification on his provocative statements.

Yesterday, he expressed his anger, stating, “Don’t call us a tribe, but indigenous. Otherwise, face the consequences.”

Three days ago, Sampang posted, “There is no assurance from the government to uplift Dharan as the center of development.”
